When we quote, we ask two quantity questions. How many on this order, and how many in a year.
The first decides the setup cost per piece. The second decides almost everything else. If we know a washer runs every month, we can buy its sheet in bigger lots, keep the die ready, and cut ahead when a press is free. All of that comes back to you in the rate and in the delivery.
Most buyers only give us the first number. Some because they do not know the second, which is fair enough. Some because they worry that saying a big annual figure commits them to it. It does not. A forecast is a forecast and we treat it as one.
If you buy the same washer every month and have only ever sent us one order at a time, send us the yearly figure and ask us to quote again. The worst that happens is you get the same price.
